Autumn cultural events in Calp on the Costa Blanca

Calp is keeping the Costa Blanca’s cultural calendar busy this autumn with around 30 events celebrating art, music, theatre and local heritage.

At its heart is the planned Museu d’Art Urbà, an open-air museum featuring 21 permanent installations across the historic centre.

The programme also includes the 11th Speed Painting Competition and a Roman-era re-enactment at Baños de la Reina.

Music ranges from Camerata Odesa performing Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons to the Valencian Community Chamber Orchestra, flamenco violinist Paco Montalvo and local ensembles.

Residents can also enjoy free live broadcasts of ballet and opera from London’s Covent Garden.

Theatre offerings include La Cubana, improvisation from Corta el cable rojo and the suspense of La mujer de negro.

Together, the events promise familiar local talent, visiting performers and a new way to discover Calp’s streets beyond the beach season.

Patron saint fiestas in Calpe: Virgen de las Nieves programme

Calpe’s fiestas honouring the Virgen de las Nieves bring music, fireworks and family celebrations to the streets from July 31 to August 6.

Church bells, fireworks and a myrtle parade open the festivities, followed by the fiesta queen’s proclamation and live music in Plaza Mayor.

Water games and foam parties entertain children on August 1 and 2, while August 3 brings a giant paella, a colour celebration and more music.

Devotion takes centre stage on August 4 with a parade and floral offering, before a nighttime mascletá lights up Plaza Mayor.

Mass and a solemn procession mark the patron saint’s feast day on August 5, with the planned Castell a la mar fireworks providing a seaside finale.

Festivities continue on August 6 for San Salvador, with a traditional pilota match and Mass at the hermitage.

Visitors can expect crowds, noise and late nights, alongside a warm display of local pride.
